Special Judge Gaurav Gupta granted relief to Rajesh Katyal, who was accused of duping innocent plot buyers of their hard-earned money. The judge noted the submissions made by senior advocates Vikas Pahwa and Geeta Luthra, appearing for the accused, that Delhi High Court directed status quo in the FIR, based on which the ED lodged its case, by an order passed on July 30, 2024. «Since FIR forms part of the predicate offence (based on which the ED lodged the present case), the ED ought to have abided by the said order. However, in a brazen manner and in disregard of orders passed by a Constitutional court, the ED proceeded to arrest the accused.

Delhi Traffic Police has issued around 550 challans, imposing a total fine of over Rs one crore, to BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles on Friday on the first day of the ban on these vehicles under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) III in the national capital, officials said. According to police, they have also issued challans to 4,855 vehicles imposing a total of Rs 4.8 crore in fines for not having Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) in the national capital on Friday. A fine of Rs 10,000 is imposed on motorists for not having a valid pollution under control (PUC) certificate. These challans get released from courts. Private BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles were banned from roads with violations inviting a penalty of Rs 20,000. Diesel and petrol inter-state buses from the NCR cities to Delhi are also banned. A senior police officer said that they have issued a total of 293 challans for BS-III and BS-IV vehicles in the eastern, central and northern ranges of the city. A total of 2,404 challans have been issued for not having PUCC certificates.

New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday after the Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express failed to depart on time, even though its scheduled departure time of 7:20 am had passed. As per reports, the delay was caused by a logistical mistake: an entire coach, including an executive class compartment, was missing from the train. A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed large groups of passengers confronting Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel and other officials, seeking answers. Some passengers claimed they were told the delay was caused because an executive coach had not been attached to the train.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday confiscated more than 80 kg of cocaine worth around Rs 900 crore in the national capital, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said and asserted that the government's hunt against drug rackets will continue «ruthlessly». The confiscation of the «high-grade» party drug came on a day a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Navy and Gujarat ATS led to the recovery of about 700 kg of Methamphetamine off the Gujarat coast. Delhi High Court has refused to interfere with an arbitral award, which directed GAIL to pay over USD 7 million to Jindal Saw Ltd. On October 29, a bench of Justices Visbhu Bakhru and Sachin Datta dismissed GAIL's appeal against a single judge's decision upholding the award, saying that it was «unmerited». The dispute in the matter pertained to delayed delivery of pipes by SAW Pipes Ltd, now Jindal Saw Ltd, to Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL). The Arbitral Tribunal, passed in December 2002 and then amended in March 2003, had held that GAIL was responsible for the delay by not taking the delivery of the goods and therefore allowed the claims filed by SAW Pipes Ltd.

Mahesh Khichi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was elected as the new mayor of the national capital on Thursday, edging out BJP’s Kishan Lal by a razor-thin margin of just three votes. Khichi, a Dalit candidate, received 133 votes, while Lal secured 130 votes. Two votes were declared invalid during the process. The win marks a major boost for the ruling AAP ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for early next year. Khichi’s victory strengthens the party's position in the city’s political landscape, further consolidating AAP’s control over municipal affairs.

Logistics aggregator Shiprocket and air cargo handling company Cargo Service Centre (CSC) have been selected by the government on a pilot basis to set up ecommerce export hubs in the country, a senior official said on Thursday. The ecommerce export hubs (EECH) will come in and around Delhi airport and begin operations in February next year, Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi told reporters here. While Shiprocket is headquartered in Gurugram, the CSC is Mumbai-based.

Even after the couple alighted at Aligarh railway junction, the harassment continued. The miscreants beat her husband with belts when he tried to stop them, said ToI's report further. The woman’s desperate cries for help eventually caught the attention of people on the platform, leading to a police alert. However, she claimed that instead of taking immediate action against the attackers, the Government Railway Police (GRP) initially detained her husband. This led to protests by the couple’s relatives, who arrived at the station.
