Nischa Shah: How she made Rs 8 crore a year transitioning from investment banking to YouTube
Nischa Shah's career shift began in 2022, where she worked as an investment banker in London, earning $256,000 annually at Credit Agricole. Despite financial success, Shah felt unfulfilled, lacking both challenge and intellectual stimulation in her role. «I wanted to find a way to help other people whilst getting paid for it, and what I was doing in banking was helping corporations, sovereign governments,» Shah explained in an interview with CNBC. In January 2023, Shah took a bold leap, leaving her lucrative banking career to pursue YouTube full-time. Her decision stemmed from a desire to explore personal finance education and empower others through digital content.

Women in India face a jobs crisis. Are factories the solution?
But with her husband gone, eliminating his wages as a server, she was forced to earn money. She took a job at a nearby factory run by a company called All Time Plastics in Silvassa, a city about 100 miles north of Mumbai. A dozen years later, she is still there, plucking newly molded food storage containers and other household implements off a conveyor belt, labeling them and placing them in cartons bound for kitchens as far away as Los Angeles and London. Pawar earns about 12,000 rupees per month (about $150), a meager sum by global standards. Yet those wages have allowed her to keep her daughter in high school while transforming their everyday lives.

The Labour Party's win: Britain must not squander a chance to arrest its decline
I recently spent ten days in the United Kingdom, driving through the English countryside and occasionally giving lectures. My journey included visits to historical landmarks like the majestic Durham Cathedral, completed in 1133 CE, and the little village in Lincolnshire where Isaac Newton was born. But I also saw, in London and across the country, signs of urban decay and neglect, as well as homelessness, poverty and despair.

BoE's Jonathan Haskel argues for rates hold amid 'tight and impaired' labour market
In the first speech following a six-week long silence from the Bank of England due to the UK snap election, Haskel argued higher inflation will stay for quite some time. Speaking at King's College London on Monday (8 July), he noted that despite «encouraging signs», with inflation falling back to the BoE's 2% target, this is likely to be temporary. He highlighted that the UK's wage-price system has been subject to a «sequence of enormous shocks over recent years», which contributed to a «tight and impaired» labour market. This will result in inflation staying above target for a while,...
