Medical students at government-run RG Kar Medical Hospital on Sunday intensified their protest in Kolkata over the alleged rape and murder of a post-graduate medical student inside the hospital and demanded a judicial inquiry. They urged the medical student fraternity nationally to participate in the protest. Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar on Sunday, in a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, demanded a CBI probe into the incident. The doctor, who was sleeping in a seminar room of the hospital, was allegedly raped and murdered early Friday morning. Following the protests, the Medical Superintendent of RG Kar Hospital Sanjay Basisht has been removed and replaced by Bulbul Mukherjee. One of the accused, a civic volunteer, was arrested and remanded to 14-day police custody. Medical students demanded compensation to the family, judicial inquiry, safety of doctors and the removal of Medical Superintendent, Principal and the head of chest medicine within 12 hours. They demanded that a day to day updated report of the SIT formed by the Kolkata Police be sent to the students' representative. They also sought a written apology from the head of the institution.

Hindenburg Research has alleged that it suspects SEBI's unwillingness to act against Adani Group may be because Madhabi Puri had stakes in offshore funds linked to the conglomerate — an allegation that the SEBI head called «baseless» and an attempt of «character assassination». Addressing a press conference here, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the SEBI had told a Supreme Court panel that the investigation into the Adani group was «directionless». «SEBI chief and her husband's money was invested in shell companies. Why were these facts hidden from the Supreme Court? The apex Court should take note of the new developments and how facts were hidden,» he said.

Manish Sisodia on Saturday met senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi at his residence here and thanked him for helping him secure bail from the Supreme Court in the excise policy cases. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday reacted to the Supreme Court's bail to Manish Sisodia in the money laundering case linked to Delhi's excise policy scam. Speaking to ANI, Raut said Manish Sisodia has got bail after 17 months. He further added that this showed how a person was put in jail by deceit and that his rights were violated. «He was granted bail after 17 months. How a person is put in jail by deceit, and is not even allowed any bail, his rights are violated. I have also felt the same pain. The government in this country has no proper law and order. Be it Sanjay Singh or Anil Deshmukh, there are a lot of people I have seen,» he said.

Had Rahul Gandhi been the face (of the opposition) in the Lok Sabha polls, then we could have defeated (the BJP-led NDA). A 1999-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, Negi is currently joint secretary in the Department of Expenditure under the Union Ministry of Finance. He has been appointed as additional secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), according to an order issued by the personnel ministry. Samir Ashwin Vakil, a 1998-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, has been appointed director in the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs for a tenure of five years, it said.

Addressing a press conference, Singh said that Kejriwal's medical report shows that anything can happen to him anytime. «The BJP is messing with Kejriwal's health. Initially, they were saying that he is eating sweets and trying to spike his sugar levels but now they are saying that he has reduced his food intake. Why will someone do this and pose a threat to their own life?» Singh said.

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Thursday nominated 14 members including Sudip Bandhyopadhyay, Gaurav Gogoi, Dayanidhi Maran, PP Chaudhary, and Anurag Thakur for the Parliament's business advisory committee. Supreme Court has dismissed pharmaceutical major Sun Pharma's plea against a demand notice of Rs 4.65 crore raised by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) to recover the amount overcharged by the company for anti-bacterial infection drug Roscilox. Sun Pharma has challenged the NPPA's demand notices of 2005. The company was directed to deposit the overcharged principal amount of Rs 2,15,62,077 for the period April 1996 to July 2003 and the interest on this amount (Rs 2,49,46,256) for Roscilox, a brand of a Cloxacillin-based drug formulation The amount charged was more than that fixed by the government under the provisions of the Drugs (Price Control) Order, 1995 (DPCO). The pharma company has already paid a sum of Rs 1.25 crore towards the demand made by the NPPA.

All the top executives of Air India are likely to hold their positions after the merger, people aware of the matter said. While Campbell Wilson will remain its chief executive, Nipun Aggarwal and Sanjay Sharma are set to retain their roles as chief commercial and transformation officer and chief financial officer, respectively. Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan is likely to return to his parent company, Singapore Airlines (SIA), people aware of the development said. Kannan was on secondment to Vistara since 2019 when he joined the Tata Sons-SIA joint venture as its chief strategy officer. SIA had the right to name the CEO at Vistara, while the Tata Group appointed its finance chief.
