Indians in Qatar will be able to scan a QR code and make payments via UPI as NPCI International Payments (NIPL) has signed an agreement with QNB, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, headquartered in Qatar. «We believe that enabling UPI acceptance in Qatar will offer substantial benefits to the large number of Indians visiting the country and simplifying their transactions,» said Anubhav Sharma, deputy chief of partnerships and business development at NPCI International. The number of Indian tourists travelling to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is projected at 9.8 million in 2024, with the UAE anticipating 5.29 million arrivals from India, a release from NPCI said.

Titan Company on Saturday said it is launching its jewellery brand Tanishq in Bangladesh as part of expansion plans in the international market. Akasa Air, India’s youngest airline, is on an expansion spree. The airline has commenced operations to Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Now, Akasa will operate daily flight operations between Mumbai and Ridyadh, the airline said in a statement. Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) on Thursday announced an agreement with QatarEnergy to secure long-term naphtha supply. QatarEnergy will supply a total of up to 2 million tons of naphtha to HPL through its 100% subsidiary, HPL Global Pte Limited, Singapore over the next ten years. The deal will come into effect from the second quarter of 2024, HPL said in a press release.
