Kalyan station's water supply cut temporarily over non-payment of dues
non-payment of dues of Rs 4.41 crore, officials said on Monday. The water supply, discontinued on Saturday evening, was restored on Sunday after the railway authorities initiated the process of payment of the current bill amounting to Rs 1.17 crore, they said. Despite prior notices from the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, the rail authorities failed to clear the outstanding dues, prompting assistant civic commissioner Sachin Tamkhede to disconnect the water supply on Saturday to the Kalyan station, located in Thane district, the civic body said in a release. Later, following urgent discussions with the civic body, the railway authorities initiated the process for payment of Rs 1.17 crore, the current bill amount, and assured the KDMC that the remaining dues would be settled soon, it said. KDMC Commissioner Dr Indu Rani Jakhar subsequently directed for the immediate restoration of water supply to the station on Sunday evening, the release said. Tamkhede said a meeting with railway officials will be held next week to discuss the issue of the outstanding dues.

Pete Hegseth's big praise for Japan in face of Chinese aggression and amid Trump tariff threat
Pete Hegseth called Japan on Sunday an «indispensable partner» in deterring growing Chinese assertiveness in the region and announced upgrading the US military command in Japan to a new «war-fighting headquarters.» Hegseth, who is on his first Asia trip with Japan as his second stop, also stressed the need for both countries to do more to accelerate the strengthening of their military capability as the region faces China's assertive military actions and a possible Taiwan emergency. «Japan is our indispensable partner in deterring Communist Chinese military aggression,» Hegseth said at the beginning of his talks with Japan's Defence Minister Gen Nakatani in Tokyo. «The US is moving fast, as you know, to reestablish deterrence in this region and around the world.» His comments come as an assurance at a time when Japan has been worried about how US engagement in the region may change under President Donald Trump's «America First» policy, Japanese defence officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity, citing protocol. The strike call on March 30 may impact the cutting and polishing of diamonds worth Rs 500 crore. Supreme Court takes suo motu cognisance of controversial Allahabad HC order on rape
Supreme Court has taken cognisance on its own of a controversial Allahabad High Court ruling that mere grabbing of the breast and pulling the string of a 'pyjama' do not amount to offence of rape. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Augustine George Masih is slated to hear the matter on Wednesday. Legal experts had deplored the observation of the Allahabad High Court on what constitutes a rape charge, calling for a restraint by judges and underlining the drop in public confidence in the judiciary due to such statements. The high court on March 17 had ruled that mere grabbing of the breast and pulling the 'pyjama' string do not amount to offence of rape but such offence falls under the ambit of assault or use of criminal force against any woman with the intent to disrobe or compel her to be naked. The order was passed by Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra on a revision petition filed by two persons who moved the court, challenging the order of a Special Judge of Kasganj by which the court had summoned them under Section 376 of IPC apart from other sections. According to facts of the case, an application was moved before the court of Special Judge, POCSO Act, alleging that around 5:00 pm on November 10, 2021, she (informant) was returning from the home of her sister-in-law (husband's sister) along with her minor daughter aged about 14 years.

Coco 2 confirmed: Pixar is revisiting the land of the dead—What we know so far?
Bob Iger has officially announced that a sequel to the 2017 animated masterpiece Coco is in the works. The revelation came during a shareholder meeting, where Iger assured fans that, while the project is still in its early stages, it will deliver the same magic as its predecessor. “While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humour, heart, and adventure, and we can’t wait to share more soon,” Iger said. However, the release date remains uncertain. Pixar initially posted on social media that Coco 2 would hit cinemas in 2029, only to later remove the mention of a specific year. A Disney press release also omitted any timeframe, leaving fans to speculate when they can expect Miguel and his ancestors to return to the big screen.
