Nuh District court has reserved till Saturday evening its order on the bail petition of Haryana Congress MLA Mamman Khan who is currently in judicial custody in connection with July 31 violence in Nuh. Mamman Khan's lawyer had applied for bail and today arguments between both parties lasted for more than half an hour. The hearing was held in Court No. 2 of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sandeep Duggal. The court reserved its decision till 4 pm today. Khan the MLA from Ferozepur Jhirka was on September 15 arrested in connection with the communal clashes in Nuh and adjoining areas of the state was on September 19 sent to 14 days judicial custody.

CBI court in Mumbai on Friday granted bail to former policeman Sachin Waze in connection with a 2021 extortion case filed on the complaint of a hotelier. Waze had approached the special court in August this year after being denied bail by a metropolitan magistrate. Waze, currently in judicial custody in the Antilia bomb scare and other cases being probed by Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation, was placed under arrest in the extortion case in November 2021.

Supreme Court on Tuesday extended till September 25 the interim bail of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case. A bench of Justices AS Bopanna and Bela M Trivedi granted the relief to Jain after Additional Solicitor General SV Raju made a request for adjournment. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Jain, also agreed to defer the matter. The top court then postponed the matter to September 25 after extending the interim bail of the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader. It also directed another accused Ankush Jain to be released on interim bail for four weeks on medical grounds noting that his child has to undergo surgery. The top court had on May 26 granted interim bail to Jain for six weeks for spinal surgery, saying a citizen has a right to receive treatment of his choice in a private hospital at his own expense.

Delhi High Court Friday refused to extend the interim bail of liquor businessman Sameer Mahendru on medical grounds in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy 'scam', saying repeated extensions set a bad precedent. The high court orally observed extension of interim bail was becoming an unending process and asked the jail superintendent concerned to take Mahendru into custody on the evening of September 4, when the tenure of his interim bail would expire.
