The much awaited VP debate is taking place weeks after the US Presidential debate between Donald Trump and US Vice President Kamala Harris which was held on September 10. According to the CBS News, the network primarily proposed four dates to TimWalz, Governor of Minnesota and JD Vance, Senator of Ohio, within which the date of October 1 was finalized and agreed on by both the Democratic and Republican camps. On August 14, Tim Walz did a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) which read ‘See you on October 1, JD’. Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance promptly accepted the offer and the CBS Network also announced the debate will take place on October 1, noted USA Today.

This comes after Harris was selected as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election. The survey conducted between September 13-17 among 1,000 registered voters reveals that 48% of respondents view Harris positively, compared to 32% in July. This marks the largest increase in favorability for any politician in NBC polls since President George W. Bush's ratings rose after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. In contrast, 40% of respondents view Trump positively, a slight increase from 38% in July. The poll's margin of error is 3 percentage points.

If his own team doesn't have confidence in him, the American people definitely can’t,» Harris said in a post on X.
