Muharram during which they raised pro-palestinian slogans. The administration had made elaborate security arrangements and deployed forces on the procession route to ensure an incident free program. The 4.5 kms long procession, as per the orders of the administration started at around 6am from Guru Bazar area and passed through the Maulana Azad Road before concluding peacefully at Dalgate. Chhagan Bhujbal-Sharad Pawar meet raises eyebrows in Ajit Pawar's camp
Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday met Sharad Pawar, who heads the rival NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), in what is seen as a sign of continuing churn in state politics and leaders hedging their bets. The meeting, which Bhujbal claimed was to discuss the tensions between OBC and Maratha communities over the latter's demand to be included in the OBC category to gain reservation benefits, has raised eyebrows in the Ajit Pawar camp as sections of leaders in the group believe he is looking to switch sides. «I came to meet him not as an MLA or a minister or even as a party leader. I came to meet him as there is an explosive situation in some districts of Maharashtra as tensions are running high between the Dalit and Maratha communities. People from both communities are boycotting each other's business. I have come to meet Pawar saheb to seek his help in resolving these tensions before this leads to arson and violence,» said Bhujbal.

IAS Pooja Khedkar row raises question if it is time to update the OBC 'creamy layer income ceiling
Pooja Khedkar's alleged misrepresentation of the 'non-creamy layer' certificate has brought attention to the 'OBC creamy layer' criteria and its enforcement. Many genuine backward class aspirants are facing difficulties and are hopeful that the current BJP government will address the long-overdue revision of the 'creamy layer' limits for Mandal reservations. The revision has been pending for seven years, despite being due every three years to account for inflation.

SC agrees to consider listing plea against scientific survey of "Bhojshala"
Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider listing a plea against a «scientific survey» of "Bhojshala", a medieval-era structure in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district which both Hindus and Muslims claim as their own. A petition was filed in the top court by the Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society challenging the March 11 order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court for a «scientific survey» of the shrine to ascertain it belonged to which community. In its March 11 order, the high court order had directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out a survey of the Bhojshala complex within six weeks. A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti agreed to consider listing the matter after advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, appearing for the Hindu petitioners, submitted that the ASI has already filed its report.

We will continue to focus on improving quality of assets and quarterly numbers: Pradip Kumar Das, IREDA
«The team has worked pretty hard on ensuring that Q1 itself will give good numbers because post IPO the investment community is very enthusiastic and curious about our performance, so we are also equally responsible and sensible to responding to them with good numbers and qualitative governance,» says Pradip Kumar Das, IREDA. Let us talk about the numbers then first. Strong quarter so NII has surely seen a very strong growth. Your NIMs also are seeing a significant improvement, also up on a sequential basis. Would you say that we can expect further upward growth now even going forward in terms both NII and NIMs going forward? Pradip Kumar Das: Definitely, our first objective is to sustain what growth we have achieved and next would be to further improvise on that. Two things we focus always. One is the result. We focus on fundamentals and governance. If you see almost since last three to four years, our corporate governance standards quality has been improving gradually and consistently. And today, it has become a benchmark.

Area that hosted Trump rally could prove pivotal in 2024 election
BUTLER, Pa.—The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump occurred in a largely rural slice of western Pennsylvania that in many ways typifies the regions Trump is leaning on for strong support in the coming election. Butler County, the site of Saturday’s Trump rally, and the surrounding area are home to an economy that has swung significantly in recent decades. The shift, from the decline of steel and manufacturing jobs to the rise of the natural-gas fracking industry, has left many workers displaced and unsettled.

West Bengal: LoP Suvendu Adhikari stages dharna outside Raj Bhawan against post-poll violence
Suvendu Adhikari, several BJP leaders and MLAs and leaders held a four-hour dharna in front of Raj Bhawan with post-poll violence victims on Sunday following Calcutta High Court's permission. Meanwhile, LoP, claiming Hindus have been prevented from voting in the last Lok Sabha and recently held bypoll, will launch a portal tomorrow where people who have failed to vote in Lok Sabha, Panchayat and bypolls will be able to register their names. «Stopping a particular community from voting is a crime. Diamond Harbour, Falta, Baduria, and North Bengal's Dinhata and in many other places, Hindus are prevented from voting. It was seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, last Panchayat polls and even in bypolls. More than two lakh voters were stopped in bypolls. I will organize a movement against this,» Adhikari said. At least 300 victims of post-poll violence, who are staying in the shelter of BJP today, joined the dharna today. Adhikari, senior leader Tathagata Ray, former BJP MP Arjun Singh, MLAs were present at the dharna. The Calcutta High Court has allowed Leader of Opposition in West Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari to hold a peaceful dharna outside Raj Bhavan on July 14 for four hours. Adhikari had sought permission from the Calcutta High Court to hold the dharna with alleged post-poll violence outside Raj Bhawan, where Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a demonstration in October, 2023 demanding MGNREGA dues for the deprived people.

Kapil Dev pledges to donate his pension to ailing Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad
Kapil Dev has also expressed deep concern for former cricketer and coach Anshuman Gaekwad, who is battling blood cancer and facing financial strain. Alongside fellow players like Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev is actively seeking support from friends and corporates to assist Gaekwad during this challenging time. “We are ready to contribute by donating our pension amount if the family allows us to,” Kapil said. Reflecting on the issue, Kapil in an interview with SportsStar emphasized the need for a structured approach to handle such medical emergencies for former players. He acknowledges the financial stability enjoyed by current players and support staff, contrasting it with the scarcity during his era when the Board lacked adequate funds. Kapil underscores the responsibility of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to support past players financially, advocating for the establishment of a Trust to streamline contributions and aid for veterans like Gaekwad. In a significant move, the BCCI has responded to emotional appeals from Kapil Dev and Sandip Patil by approving a donation of Rs one crore for Gaekwad's treatment at a London hospital. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has personally ensured immediate financial assistance and ongoing support for Gaekwad's recovery.
