Phuket to Delhi in five hours has turned into a four-day ordeal for many travellers aboard Air India Flight AI 377. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 5:50 pm (local time) on November 16, had to be delayed due to technical issues and crew flight duty time restrictions. The Airbus A320 (VT-EDD) was unable to take off on its scheduled time, and after a delay of nearly 24 hours, the flight took off from Phuket at 8:44 pm the next day. However, after about 3.5 hours in the air, the aircraft had to return to Phuket due to a technical snag. As of now, around 30-35 passengers remain stranded in Phuket. In a TOI report, Air India sources confirm that plans are in place to fly these passengers back to Delhi on Wednesday, meaning they will reach their destination four days later than originally expected.

Faf du Plessis, who led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for three IPL seasons from 2022 to 2024, was not retained by the franchise for the upcoming league. This places du Plessis alongside Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul in the pool for the IPL mega auctions. markets FIVE Digital AVP performer cricket Struggling Shafali Verma dropped from Indian women's team for ODI series in Australia next month
Shafali Verma was on Tuesday dropped from India's 16-member women's team for the three-match ODI series in Australia in December after a string of poor performances in the past year. The BCCI selectors seem to have once again lost patience with the 20-year-old right-handed batter, whose recent ODI form has been disappointing. Shafali has scored just 108 runs in six matches this year with 33 being the highest. She was dropped in December last year from the team midway during the home ODI series against Australia on the basis of her poor run, before making a comeback against South Africa in June this year in Bengaluru. In fact, the youngster, rated as the next big thing in Indian women's cricket when she broke into the team in 2021, has not scored a ODI half century since making an unbeaten 71 against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in July 2022. Her next highest score was a 49 against the same opponent in the same series.

markets FIVE Rhythm wellness stage testing cricket Virat Kohli will have his moments, hopefully not too many: Travis Head
Travis Head on Monday backed Virat Kohli to «have his moments in the series» as the Indian superstar continued to dominate talks in the run-up to the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting here on Friday. Kohli's ordinary returns with the bat this year in Test cricket notwithstanding, the 36-year-old has been the cynosure of all eyes since the Indian team landed in Australia last week. Head threw his support behind the Indian batting mainstay, who managed a mere 93 runs across three Tests against New Zealand at a forgettable average of 15.50 in his last assignment at home just before the tour of Australia. «No doubt, we will go through all their players, cannot wait to start well against them. Virat's going to have his moments in this series, hopefully not too many of them,» Head told the media at the Optus Stadium after Australia's training session.

markets FIVE Man Fighting Bill Experts MVA will bring consolidated reservation bill for Marathas, Muslims and VJNTs: Supriya Sule
Supriya Sule, who has been addressing around five rallies a day, said that if they come to power a comprehensive bill giving reservation to Marathas, Dhangars, Lingayats, Muslims and VJNT (Vimukh Jati Nomadic Tribes) would be brought out. She says unemployment and farm distress were the main issues this time adding that they would ensure jobs and a better price to farmers if voted to power. On the contentious issue of Maratha reservation, Sule doesn't hesitate to say that their alliance is sensitive about it and so also the need for quota for other segments of society. Sule packs punches on her rivals and maintains that the fight with her estranged cousin Ajit Pawar is an «ideological» fight not a «family fight». Wearing a white saree with the NCP(SP) symbol of a man blowing the trumpet printed on the saree blouse, the Baramati MP starts her speech by chanting her party slogan, 'Ram Krishna Hari, Vajava Tutari'. While the second part of the slogan refers to the NCP(SP), the first part refers to the greeting of the Warkari sect, which worships the Vitthal deity, and has a huge following across the state. «If MVA comes to power we will bring a comprehensive legislation ensuring appropriate reservation for Maratha, Dhangar, Muslim, Lingayat and VJNT,» she said.

markets FIVE Strategy Analysis Research Healthcare Trade This is the year to build portfolios, don’t expect a big bounce back in near term: Aniruddha Naha
Aniruddha Naha, CIO-Alternates, PGIM India Asset Management, says this year is probably the year to build portfolios and not expect too much in terms of absolute returns. PGIM would cautiously continue to build portfolios over a period of time. But in the near term, we do not see the markets bouncing back in a large way. Naha further says that a 5-10% correction from here into capital goods would make it very interesting. Plus, there is reasonable value in largecap financials, especially on the lending side. There is also value in segments like textiles, chemicals and agrochemicals, which have been beaten down over the last three years. Healthcare is something they are very confident in. Given the fact that markets have declined more than 10% from their recent peak, with all the major events behind us, how are you reading into the current markets and do you expect a recovery anytime soon or do you expect the markets to continue to lag for the next six months? Aniruddha Naha: Our view is probably the worst of earnings is through.
