At least 33 major health insurance companies join govt's centralised claims-related info exchange
health insurance companies in India, at least 33 have joined the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), a centralized platform developed by the government for the exchange of insurance claims-related information, ToI reported on July 15. This new system aims to expedite the insurance claims process and make it more transparent, with real-time access to claims settlement status by the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Citizens will also be able to monitor their insurance claim status through their mobile devices, the report (by Durgesh Nandan Jha) said. Currently, insurance claims are processed through multiple platforms, leading to delays. The implementation of NHCX will streamline this process. According to government sources, some companies have already started trialing the NHCX for claims processing, with an official launch expected soon. A senior official of the National Health Authority (NHA), which developed the centralized platform, elucidated, «Citizens will also be able to see the status of their insurance claim through the mobile.»

Sudip Bandyopadhyay on 4 stocks to be bullish on from hospitality sector
«The other interesting thing which I found in the management commentary is that the AI portion, it has scaled up to 1.5 billion from about 800-900 million, that is quite interesting because that is the way forward,» says Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Group Chairman, Inditrade Capital. We are at least mesmerized by the move in IT. Did you anticipate such a strong reaction to a largely in-line set of numbers from TCS? Sudip Bandyopadhyay: Well, the reaction definitely is beyond expectation, but the numbers have been pretty good. It is, of course, the way expectations being built, but it is better than that.

Reagan survived an assassination attempt and his response changed the trajectory of his presidency
president and changing the trajectory of a presidency. It happened on a dreary March afternoon in 1981. President Ronald Reagan was leaving the Washington Hilton hotel after giving a speech to a union group when John W. Hinckley Jr. opened fire from his .22-caliber revolver. At the sound of the gunshots, Secret Service agents swarmed, and one of them shoved the president into the waiting limousine — but not before one of the bullets struck home, hitting Reagan in his side.

Hamas says Gaza cease-fire talks haven't paused and claims military chief survived Israeli strike
Gaza Strip: Hamas said Sunday that Gaza cease-fire talks continue and the group's military commander is in good health, a day after the Israeli military targeted Mohammed Deif with a massive airstrike that local health officials said killed at least 90 people, including children. Deif's condition remained uncertain after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday night «there still isn't absolute certainty» he was killed. Hamas representatives gave no evidence to back up their assertion about the health of a chief architect of the Oct. 7 attack that sparked the war. The Israeli military on Sunday announced that Rafa Salama, a Hamas commander it described as one of Deif's closest associates, had been killed in Saturday's strike. Salama commanded Hamas' Khan Younis brigade. The statement gave no update on Deif, who has long topped Israel's most-wanted list and has been in hiding for years.

Kapil Dev pledges to donate his pension to ailing Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad
Kapil Dev has also expressed deep concern for former cricketer and coach Anshuman Gaekwad, who is battling blood cancer and facing financial strain. Alongside fellow players like Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev is actively seeking support from friends and corporates to assist Gaekwad during this challenging time. “We are ready to contribute by donating our pension amount if the family allows us to,” Kapil said. Reflecting on the issue, Kapil in an interview with SportsStar emphasized the need for a structured approach to handle such medical emergencies for former players. He acknowledges the financial stability enjoyed by current players and support staff, contrasting it with the scarcity during his era when the Board lacked adequate funds. Kapil underscores the responsibility of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to support past players financially, advocating for the establishment of a Trust to streamline contributions and aid for veterans like Gaekwad. In a significant move, the BCCI has responded to emotional appeals from Kapil Dev and Sandip Patil by approving a donation of Rs one crore for Gaekwad's treatment at a London hospital. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has personally ensured immediate financial assistance and ongoing support for Gaekwad's recovery.

Third Eye: Trying to turn the tables, headlines to get attention, and skydiving to boost tourism
Trying to turn the tables: The Mahayuti (grand alliance) was in disarray after the Lok Sabha fiasco, but the state government, eyeing the assembly polls, has rolled out various initiatives, including free power to farmers and Rs 1500 to women each month. In the assembly, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde mocked the opposition by saying they would be constructing additional hospitals in the state to treat all the opposition leaders for their «stomach ache» caused by all the new programmes they had implemented. Headlines to get attention Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP, is always surrounded by reporters because he frequently provides bytes and statements that create headlines. Raut is aware of this, which is why, on Friday, when he saw the BJP's Chandrakant Patil at the assembly premises, he drew Patil towards him and suggested that the two come together again. Raut's statements were a brilliant word play for the media, which tried to figure out whether Raut was advocating that the BJP and UBT reunite again. Raut later stated, while speaking to the media, that nothing should be interpreted from his statements.
