Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: Karni Sena threatens nationwide movement if CBI doesn't act on late actor's case
Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020, the case continues to linger without closure, prompting renewed calls for justice. Sushant's sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, has persistently campaigned for answers surrounding his demise. On the actor's recent fourth death anniversary, she reiterated the family's plea for closure. According to ETimes, recently, Karni Sena, a prominent socio-political group in India, has announced plans for a nationwide movement. This action is contingent on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failing to produce a conclusive report on Rajput's death. Shiv Singh Shekhawat, the national president of Karni Sena, emphasized their stance, stating, «We will raise Sushant Singh Rajput's voice to know who killed him.» Expressing frustration over the prolonged investigation, Shekhawat added, «It's been four years, and despite assurances of ongoing inquiry, no report has been filed. We are planning a nationwide stir. We will light lamps and gherao the mantralaya if the report is not filed and we don't get to know who killed Sushant singh rajput.» In response to queries, Varun Singh, legal representative for Rajput, expressed uncertainty about the case's progress. «We really have no update,» Singh remarked. «The only information we have is that the CBI has yet to file a chargesheet.»

Anti-social elements behind stampede, Bhole Baba never lets people touch his feet: Lawyer
lawyer representing Bhole Baba claimed Wednesday that "anti-social elements" were behind the stampede at the preacher's 'satsang' here in which 121 people died a day back, and contradicted preliminary reports that the tragedy struck when his followers rushed to collect the soil touched by his feet. According to preliminary government reports, the stampede occurred when a large number of his followers, mostly women, rushed towards Baba Narayan Hari alias Saakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba when he was leaving to get a closer glimpse of the preacher and collect his «charan raj». «Some anti-social elements hatched a conspiracy. When Narayan Saakar Hari left the venue, his vehicles left, our volunteers and followers failed to understand what was happening due to the conspiracy. This was done as per a plan and should be investigated,» lawyer A P Singh told PTI. Singh said Bhole Baba is also ready to cooperate with the state administration and the police probing Tuesday's stampede and has demanded an investigation into the entire matter.

₹5,338 crore. But what did Forbes know? That same year, his group companies Malvika Steels and Usha Ispat defaulted on loans worth close to ₹2,400 crore! Beneath the glittering facade of a sprawling conglomerate, a black fungus of financial manipulation had started to take root that would soon bring the entire edifice crashing. At the heart of the Ispat frauds was a complex system of inflated valuations for public issues, round-tripping of funds and misuse of bank loans.

Woman vanished from Bahamas yoga retreat in ‘deeply unsettling’ case, says mom
found Casey’s cellphone in the water but they had been unable to access its contents, reports CNN. Shortly after she disappeared, a police tracking dog picked up a scent from a yoga tent and tracked it to the water, but the scent ended there, police said.Casey’s mother, Colette Seymore, went to the Bahamas to help in the search efforts and meet with officials and the retreat leaders late last month, but she said the family is “not satisfied with how this investigation has been handled thus far.”In a news release last week, after returning to the U.S., Seymore said she felt uneasy with how the retreat leaders are handling her daughter’s disappearance, claiming that the retreat had a “cultish” feel and she felt students were being “coerced to obey” retreat leaders, “even if that meant holding back information about my child.”“It became apparent to us when we met with the Sivananda Ashram leaders that they were struggling to keep a linear and cohesive narrative regarding Taylor’s disappearance,” said Casey’s close friend, Emily Williams, who travelled with Seymore to the Bahamas. The press release claims the women were told by police not to talk to any of the resort’s guests, and that they had to “beg” to talk to students of the yoga retreat but it felt “like they were told what to say and what not to say.”Jonathan Goldbloom, a spokesperson for the retreat, told NBC News last week it has been fully cooperative with police and family and encouraged guests to speak.“All of us are distraught over Taylor’s disappearance, and our hearts go out to her family and friends,” he said in an email to NBC.

India's lawyers, activists protest against new criminal laws
Indian lawyers and activists are urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to put on hold three sets of new criminal laws, arguing they will increase litigation in an already overburdened justice system and give excessive powers to police. India this month replaced its criminal justice system — the Indian Penal Code of 1860, the 1973 Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 — with new laws. The new laws, in force since July 1, expand police powers on pre-trial detention of an accused and introduce the death penalty for gang-rape of women aged under 18, among other provisions. They also mandate judges to issue written rulings within 45 days after a trial ends and for charges to be framed within 60 days of the first court hearing in a case.

Karnataka: Vijayendra, Ashoka arrested as BJP lays seige to CM's home over MUDA, Valmiki scam, price hikes
Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra, leader of opposition R Ashoka, and several party workers were detained by the police on Wednesday as they tried to lay seige to chief minister Siddaramaiah's home in Bengaluru to a protest to protest the alleged Valmiki Development Corporation scam and the recent fuel and milk price hike. The leaders also demanded a CBI inquiry and the CM's resignation in connection with alleged irregularities in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). “We will continue our demonstrations. In the next stage, we will protest inside the Houses of the state legislature until the cases are handed over to the CBI. The CM should resign,” Ashoka said after the protest. The BJP, he added, wanted the contentious allocation of sites to be cancelled immediately. “More than 86,000 people have applied to MUDA for sites. They did not get them. They are still waiting for sites. But the CM was allotted a site in a jiffy,” he said. The government, Vijayendra alleged, was protecting MUDA officials by just transferring, not suspending, them. “They are trying to cover up corruption. We will protest across the state,” he added.
