Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday said the Indian rupee has strengthened during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government. He also credited the role played by B R Ambedkar in taking on the then British rulers who tried to weaken the currency. Talking to reporters here after attending a seminar on the journey of the Indian rupee in the last 100 years, he said during the tenure of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian rupee has gained currency. He said 35 countries have agreed to allow the use of Indian rupee and people travelling there do not have to get it converted into local currency or US dollar. The Union minister pointed out that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was established in April 1935 following the thesis presented by Ambedkar in the London School of Economics on the Indian rupee. People should know that Ambedkar was also an eminent economist, he added.

Q3 results: HCLTech bucks trend, Wipro's woes continue
HCLTech, India's third-largest software exporter, bucked the prevailing trend of tepid growth in the $245-billion IT services industry to post better-than-expected numbers in the third quarter of the current financial year. Its net profit rose 6.2% on year to Rs 4,350 crore for the October-December 2023 period, while revenues rose 6.5% to Rs 28,446 crore. Top four IT firms report 50,000 fall in headcount over last year
IT companies have reported a combined headcount drop of 50,875 at the end of the fiscal third quarter from a year earlier. Over the year, the headcount at India’s largest software services firm, TCS, dropped by 10,669. Infosys reported a 24,182 reduction, while Wipro posted a 18,510 fall.
