Lok Sabha has been adjourned till Monday amid an uproar in the House as the opposition demanded a discussion on the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the medical entrance exam NEET. As soon as the House met, opposition members were on their feet seeking the acceptance of an adjournment motion to suspend all business and discuss matters related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said the NEET issue is a very important issue for the whole country and they want a dedicated discussion in the House on the matter. Hence, the adjournment motion should be accepted, he said.

Sebi has allowed up to 100 per cent aggregate contribution by non-resident Indians, Overseas Citizens of India, Resident Indians in the corpus of FPIs that are based out of International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). The move is expected to enhance investment by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in India. In a circular issued on Thursday, Sebi said it has amended FPI rules to «provide flexibility of having up to 100 per cent aggregate contribution by non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Resident Indians (RI) Individuals in the corpus of FPIs based in IFSCs in India and regulated by International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA)».

carbon dioxide (CO2) removal credits could reach up to $100 billion a year between 2030 and 2035 from $2.7 billion last year if barriers to its growth are addressed, a report by management consultancy Oliver Wyman said on Thursday. Worsening climate change and inadequate efforts to cut emissions have led U.N. scientists to estimate billions of tons of carbon must be removed from the atmosphere annually by using nature or technology to meet global climate goals. Demand for credits has begun to increase from sectors as diverse as technology and finance, chemicals and aviation but it’s not yet large enough to drive the scale of projects that experts say are needed, the report by Oliver Wyman, the City of London Corporation and the UK Carbon Markets Forum said.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), a leading engineering and manufacturing company in the energy and infrastructure sectors, have gained 4% to ₹308 apiece in today's early morning trade after the company secured a significant contract to establish a 1600 MW thermal power plant in Koderma, Jharkhand.Commensurate with the goal of the central government to ensure the energy security of the country, DVC has finalised the tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package of Koderma TPS (2X800 MW) in Jharkhand with Bharat Heavy Electricals for ₹13,300 crore on June 26, 2024, a power ministry statement said.With this investment, which would also have a substantial impact on the local economy and benefit people, the installed thermal generation capacity of DVC would go up to 8140 MW by 2030.The company has secured significant orders in FY24, marking a notable achievement. Among the major orders received last year are the EPC orders for Yamuna Nagar, Lara Super Critical Power Plant, and Raigad Super Critical Power Plant from the Adani Group.Additionally, the company received orders for 80 Vande Bharat trains and 20 super rapid gun mounts for naval ships, with the contractual delivery of Vande Bharat trains set to begin in June 2025.The company has focused heavily on defence, securing a large volume of orders over the past 1.5 years.
