Presently he is guarded by Assam police personnel. In a statement mailed to media houses stated, “First, use CRPF or Indian Army [excluding youth of WeSEA region] in place of the state police officers and constables who were being employed by G P Singh as his driver as as well as in the West-Southeast Asia [WeSEA] region for security. Secondly, just show yourself moving around Guwahati city without security for a week".
The outfit stated, «A decade ago it was decided that the organization would not engage in clashes with the local officers/members of the Assam Police as well as the military officers/members of the (WeSEA) region. In the past, many of our officers/members like brothers died in our hands when we clashed with Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Daulat Singh Negi and Tinsukia Police Superintendent R K Singh”.
Singh on Friday said that militant outfit ULFA (Independent) is free to attack him and must spare others.
The anti-talks faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA Independent) which is also known as ULFA-I has claimed responsibility for two grenade blasts that occurred in Assam within a span of the last 20 days.
The outfit in a statement recently stated: “We don’t have any personal animosity with Assam police. They all are sons of our soil.
But the recent blasts were to prove to the DGP of Assam GP Singh that Assam Police is not personal property. Using and showing them to be his own personal property and power shows how ill-intentioned he is.”
Reacting to this, Singh said, “Those who love their motherland I cannot understand how they attack their own land. Those who did this will be identified; we are already in touch with NIA, a team is coming.
