IMD scientist GS Patil explained, «Due to cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal, moisture-laden winds are bringing rainfall to Karnataka. We anticipate moderate to heavy rain in parts of the state, particularly coastal and southern districts.»
In Bengaluru, temperatures ranged between 18°C and 25°C on Thursday. Humidity levels rose to 86%, significantly higher than Wednesday. Winds from the northeast blew at 16 km/h, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 76, indicating moderate air quality. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected to accompany rainfall, with visibility affected by dense fog in northern interior Karnataka.
Sunrise and sunset were recorded at 6.33 am and 5.55 pm, respectively. The IMD forecasts similar weather patterns for the next few days, urging residents to remain alert.
The rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, intensified by cyclonic circulation. Coastal Karnataka, particularly Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, has been experiencing heavier rainfall, while other parts of the state face moderate showers. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) warned of possible thunderstorms in southern districts.
