Trivedi, Managing Director, Snap Inc said at the second edition of the company's India AR Day in Mumbai. Interestingly, India is now home to the highest number of AR lenses globally, the company said.
«In India, Snapchatters engage with AR lenses over 80 billion times every month,» he said. «In fact, more than 85% of Snapchatters in India use AR lenses to celebrate festivals with their family and friends and it's also very mainstream as a part of their daily life.»
During his opening address, Snap cofounder and CTO Bobby Murphy emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering creativity and self-expression through AR innovation in India.
“Indian developers are at the forefront of innovation, bringing engaging and creative experiences to life," he said. «In fact, among all countries, the highest number of lenses published on Snapchat come from India. And the developer community here has grown by more than half, over the last two years. India is an extraordinary country where AR has become a part of daily life. It’s a country where the creative energy is electric, and AR is not just a tool for entertainment but a medium for cultural expression.”
Trivedi added that it wasn't just creators and developers who were shaping the space but also brands who were now keen to hop on the bandwagon
