In an article published in the 'Washington Post', it was said that his selection as a running mate was not encouraging as he was a historically unpopular running mate. He is not a popular voter-friendly candidate is evident by he fact that in the 2022 Ohio Senate campaign all other Republican candidates for statewide office performed better in their races. As if it was not enough, his popularity has been waning since Donald Trump selected him as his running mate.
JD Vance: Lowest favorability rating
According to CNN, Vance has the lowest favorability rating of any vice presidential candidate since the 1980s. He has a net negative favorability of -6 points, while the average for a VP nominee has been +18 points at this stage in recent years. The gravity of the situation can be gauged by the fact that Donald Trump’s former White House Communications Director has warned that the Vance pick is already a “disaster”.
