Donald Trump might have a bright spot. Numerous polls since the candidates' Tuesday meeting in Philadelphia have shown Harris to be just ahead of Trump.
Trump still has the advantage when it comes to voters' trust in his ability to handle immigration and the economy. These two issues that voters have repeatedly stated are their top concerns in this year's election, even though Harris has seen a slight increase in support. Although polls released over the past week may not fully reflect the impact of the debate and issues like Trump's second alleged assassination attempt, they generally indicate a slight to moderate improvement for Harris.

According to TIPP Insights polls, Harris' lead over Trump increased by just 1 percentage point; before the debate, she led by 48 to 45 per cent; following the onstage altercation, her lead increased to 47 to 43 per cent. An Ipsos/Reuters poll taken on September 11 and September 12 revealed the same 1-point increase, with the vice president's lead growing from 4 points to 5 points following the debate.
After the debate, support for Harris increased by 1% among all adults, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted from September 11 to September 13. However, among registered and likely voters, her lead over the former president remained unchanged. 52 per cent of likely voters preferred Harris to 46 per cent who supported Trump, according to the poll.
