Shares of AU Small Finance Bank(up 2.7 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 2.56 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.58 per cent), Axis Bank(up 1.5 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 0.68 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 0.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.42 per cent up at 45339.9. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 98.8 points at 19497.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 339.6 points at 65785.64.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red. Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
