Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.76% in an upbeat market

MphasiS Ltd.(up 5.39 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 2.59 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 2.4 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.19 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.89 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was up 1.76 per cent at 40760.1 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 194.41 points at 24600.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 543.95 points at 80583.75.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, MMTC, SJVN, RattanIndia Power and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kothari Prod, Ion Exchange, IL&FS Invest, GHCL Textiles and HB Stockholding hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Nandani Creation, IndInfravit Trust, 3rd Rock MultiMedia, GIR Natureview and Thomas Scott hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
