Practical and internal assessments will be conducted only once during the year. Over 26.6 lakh students are expected to sit for the Class 10 board exams in 2026. The CBSE will accept feedback on the draft scheme until March 9, after which it will review the feedback, finalise the scheme, and amend the relevant exam rulebooks accordingly.
Although the final passing certificate will only be issued after the second-phase exam, the results from the first phase will be made available in DigiLocker. These results can be used for Class XI admissions if a student opts not to appear in the second phase. If students do not qualify in the first phase, they can still receive provisional admission to Class XI, though the final admission will depend on the results from the second phase of exams.
The 2026 Board exam marksheet will include marks from both the first and second exams, practical/internal assessment marks, and grades. Additionally, the better of the two exam marks will be clearly stated on the marksheet. Students who pass all five subjects will be declared as pass, while those who fail will be placed under the "Improvement Category" and will be allowed to appear for a second examination in July 2026.
