In a LinkedIn post, Himanshu Bohra shared the story of Shiva Sarkar. He wrote that the young delivery executive was in his early 20s and has been working tirelessly to support his family after being forced to drop out of school following the death of his father. Despite the challenges, he maintains a positive demeanor while navigating the demands of his job, which often involve late nights and extreme conditions. He has been working late hours due to his sister's wedding next year.
Bohra was moved by Shiva’s story of sacrifice. The young man set aside his aspirations to take on the responsibility of providing for his family and ensuring the well-being of his siblings. Bohra’s meeting with Shiva led him to reflect on the struggles of countless others in similar circumstances, raising questions about how society can better support such individuals. He appealed to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, suggesting initiatives like upskilling programs, scholarships, and easy loans to help delivery executives access better opportunities while earning a living. He also shared a photo of the delivery executive (with his consent).
