But, India is uniquely placed because we can invest in each of these transitions today because of the geopolitical advantages that our country has," he said. He said that by 2030, the Tata Group will move to 70 per cent green energy.

lignite production in India crossed 1 billion tonnes in 2023-24, as of March 22, in line with the government's target for this financial year. The output was 6.7% higher year-on-year. The government's mission for 1-billion-tonne output was a milestone set a few years ago, considering the increasing electricity requirements. Surpassing the 1-billion-tonne mark in coal and lignite production reduces the dependence on imports, the government said.
