Allahabad High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a school teacher who asked class 2 students to slap their Muslim friend, a lawyer said on Thursday about the incident that sparked widespread outrage last year. A bench comprising Justice Deepak Verma refused to grant the relief and directed the applicant to surrender before the court concerned within two weeks from the date of the order and apply for regular bail, the plaintiff's lawyer said. «The lower court had already rejected the anticipatory bail plea on October 16. Now, the high court has upheld that decision, rejecting the teacher's plea on November 23,» Kamran Zaidi, the lawyer representing the victim, said. According to the prosecution, police filed a charge sheet against Tripti Tyagi under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings).

I have repeated it several times that you may believe in not appeasing the Muslim community. We also don't ask for any appeasement. But not appeasing us (Muslims) doesn't mean you will target us. Don't target and victimise us in the name of not appeasing us,» said Abdullah.

Barwa Adda Expressway (BAEL), have agreed to restructure the ₹1,269 crore debt of the toll company, allowing them to classify the account as standard to recover their dues. The restructuring documents are being finalised and creditors expect to complete the process and book the recovery in the current quarter, people familiar with the plans said. An IL&FS spokesperson confirmed that lenders have approved the restructuring of its ₹1,269 crore aggregate debt.

The Tata Group-owned Air India faced a Rs 30 lakh fine from the DGCA in January this year for not having enough pilots trained to fly in low visibility conditions ahead of the fog season. «Air India has adjusted flight schedules to minimise disruptions to long haul and metro-to-metro flights with onward connectivity during the fog window. It has also increased the number of CAT-III trained pilots who are certified to land in low visibility operations and CAT-III instrument landing system,» Air India said without giving the number of such pilots.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) which added 27 tonnes of the precious metal to its reserves, the World Gold Council (WGC) said on Thursday. India added 27 tonnes of gold in October, bringing its total gold purchases to 77 tonnes from January to October, according WGC data based on reported monthly data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This buying by RBI represents a five-fold increase as compared to the same period of 2023, said WGC. According to the data, with this purchase the total gold reserve of India is now at 882 tonnes, of which 510 tonnes are held in India.

K Raheja Corp has acquired two prime properties including Bayside Mall, one of the early shopping malls of India, and Popular Press Building spread over more than half an acre in south Mumbai’s plush Tardeo locality for over Rs 355 crore. The company has bought these properties through its Ivory Property Trust from Jaydev Mody-led AAA Holding Trust. Ivory Property Trust has paid stamp duty of Rs 21.30 crore for the registration of the deal that took place on August 13.
