Citi Provident Cooper Shell show country Kim Jong Un stops to see a fighter jet factory as Russia and North Korea are warned off arms deals
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stopped in a far eastern Russian city Friday to see a factory that builds the country's most advanced fighter jets on his extended trip that hints at his interest in sophisticated weaponry, as the U.S. and others warned Moscow and Pyongyang against making banned weapons transfer deals. Kim's visits to Russian weapons and technology sites and meetings with President Vladimir Putin have raised speculation he will supply ammunition to Russia for its war efforts in Ukraine in exchange for receiving advanced weapons or technology from Russia as the two nations deepen their ties while both are increasingly isolated and sanctioned in separate confrontations with the West. Russia's state news agency RIA Novosti published video showing Kim's armored train pulling into a station in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Kim's convoy sweeping out of the station shortly afterward.

We need to be careful what we are buying. There are still opportunities in the midcap, smallcap segment where these companies might do well over the next two, three years.”Let us talk about sugar, the sweetest pocket in the market right now. Since you monitor the sector very closely, is it time to add positions further or would you say wait for a dip perhaps?Sugar has been one sector which has not performed despite a lot of things going well for them, both in terms of the weather disruptions in India and globally, which is going to cut this year's production growth. MET Waters Southern country September rains in agricultural regions a good omen for cooling inflation
monsoon in September for key agricultural regions has raised hopes that food inflation may ease, with higher precipitation helping the two major kharif crops, rice and soya bean, that have seen an increase in the area sown. A sharply deficient August created moisture stress, raising concerns of a decline in output. The paddy sowing area increased 2.7% on-year to 40.3 million hectares as of September 8, according to government data, while soya bean acreage has risen 1.3% to 12.54 million hectares. «The rice-producing northern states of Punjab and Haryana have met their water requirement through irrigation. But the eastern states, which produce the bulk of the rice, have received good rainfall in September, helping in rice transplantation, which was a major worry for farmers,» said Amaresh Kumar Nayek, director of ICAR National Rice Research Institute. Slowing food inflation could give the central bank more room to ease its monetary policy for bolstering economic expansion, according to experts. Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh have reported higher paddy sowing. «If this momentum in rainfall continues for another few days, we do not see much difference in crop size compared with last year,» said Nayek. Similarly, September rains have helped the growth of soyabean pods, from which oil is extracted, said DN Pathak, executive director of the Soybean Processors Association.

UPS Target Reuters country Sugar stocks in sweet spot with supply shortage looming large
Shares of sugar companies soared on Thursday on news reports that output in Maharashtra, India's highest-producing state, could fall in the 2023-24 crop year to its lowest in four years. This could lead to higher sugar prices and boost the profitability of top companies in the sector, said analysts.Sakthi Sugars jumped 11.3%, Dhampur Sugar gained 10.4%, Dwarikesh Sugar rose 9.8%, Bajaj Hindusthan advanced 7.2% and Balrampur Chini moved up 4.8%. A Reuters report said Maharashtra's sugar output could fall 14% in the 2023-24 crop year due to lower cane yields following the driest August in more than a century. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka are among the top sugarcane-producing states in the country, and a dry spell because of the El Nino effect will likely affect supply. Sugar companies are expected to witness strong earnings growth till FY26, according to brokerage DAM Capital. «We believe fast developing El Nino conditions would further hamper sugar production in these states and keep domestic sugar prices above ₹37/kg,» said DAM's analyst Sanjay Manyal in a note to clients.
