Tata Motors on Wednesday said its total wholesales rose 11.5 per cent year-on-year to 77,521 units last month as compared with 69,599 units in April 2023. The company's total domestic dispatches rose 12 per cent to 76,399 units last month as against 68,514 units in April 2023, the auto major said in a statement.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) on Wednesday said it has secured an AAA rating by CARE Ratings. With this development, the company has become the first large-sized private infrastructure developer to get this recognition, APSEZ said in a statement. «The rating is largely driven by APSEZ's robust integrated business model, strong industry position, consistent market share growth with healthy profitability, coupled with high liquidity and low leverage,» the agency said. In FY24, APSEZ handled a cargo volume of 419.95 MMT, 24 per cent higher than the previous fiscal.

Saudi Arabia's real gross domestic product (GDP) decreased 1.8% year-on-year in the first quarter, flash estimates by the government's statistical authority showed on Wednesday, as a decline in oil activities continued to hurt overall growth. CBI has searched 30 locations across 10 states and union territories after registering a case in a fraudulent investment scheme linked to the HPZ Token App, officials said Wednesday. The agency has alleged the scheme involved misleading the public to invest in non-existent crypto-currency mining machine rentals. The nationwide operation ended Tuesday night. Two private companies, Shigoo Technology Private Limited and Lillian Technocab Private Limited, along with their directors were booked in the case under Indian Penal Code Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) 419, 420 (cheating) and Section 66 D of Information Technology Act, 2000, officials said. The CBI seized digital devices, including laptops, mobile phones, ATM and debit cards besides a trove of email accounts, during the searches spread across Delhi-NCR, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Mumbai in Maharashtra, Bengaluru in Karnataka as well as locations in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key accused in the Rs 700 crore Attari border drugs seizure case, taking the total number of arrests in the matter to eight. An official statement issued on Wednesday said the accused, Athar Saeed alias Chacha, had handled the proceeds of the drugs on the directions of the kingpin, Shahid Ahmed. Saeed was arrested on Tuesday after the NIA teams searched his premises in Delhi's Daryaganj and seized incriminating documents. The documents are being examined by the anti-terror agency to unravel the complete conspiracy behind the massive drugs racket, the statement said.

Supreme Court registrar hasn't accepted the government's plea for allowing the administrative allocation of spectrum in some special cases, marking a setback for the Centre. The apex court had ruled that frequencies had to be auctioned as they were a national resource in the 2G spectrum allocation case in 2012. The registrar said the government was seeking a review of the 2012 order «in the guise» of seeking clarifications and said the move was «misconceived», adding that there was no «reasonable cause» for entertaining the plea and that too after a lengthy period of time. «I refuse to receive the present miscellaneous application (MA), as it does not disclose any reasonable cause for being entertained,» Pavanesh D, registrar, judicial listing, said in the order that ET has seen. «Accordingly, it is declined to be received under the provisions of Order XV Rule 5 of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013.»

Indian Oil Corporation plans to invest ₹5,215 crore in building 1 gw of renewable energy capacity in the country. The state-run company said in a stock exchange filing on Tuesday that its board has approved the investment plan, which would involve setting up «standalone ground-mounted solar or standalone onshore wind or wind-solar hybrid projects» in a phased manner. The plan entails an equity investment of ₹1,304 crore by Indian Oil. The company plans to house its renewable energy business in a wholly owned subsidiary.
