Chris Martin a “YouTube moment.” Melbourne fans got a nasty shock during the rock-pop band’s final performance at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium when Martin stumbled through a trap door on stage. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Greg Briggs, Chris Martin was spotted engaging with the crowd when he accidentally stepped backward and fell through the trap door.
The audience gasped in surprise, and someone already positioned inside the trap door quickly reached out to soften his fall. The video included the caption, “The moment Chris Martin fell through a trapdoor right in front of me at the #Coldplay concert tonight.”
Martin appeared unfazed and after regaining composure, told the fans, «That wasn't planned. Thank you for catching me so much. Thank you guys, holy s***, that was a YouTube moment.»
Interestingly, Martin is not the only musician to have recently fallen through a trap door on stage in Melbourne. On October 18, Olivia Rodrigo also experienced a similar incident while performing at Rod Laver Arena during her “GUTS” tour. Unfazed, she humorously reassured the audience upon her return, saying, “Oh my God, that was fun! I’m okay! Wow. Sometimes, there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright! Alright, where was I?”
Rodrigo later revealed on The Tonight Show that she felt “shaken up” and described the experience as “really scary.”
