Highlighting the dangerous side of AI, Chaudhry said AI can also be easily exploited by bad actors with devastating impact. «For example, you could ask ChatGPT to show all the firewalls with vulnerabilities in a company. In the past, it would have taken weeks to identify those vulnerabilities. Now it takes less than 30 seconds to get that information. Once inside the network, they can ask AI how to find the applications running on the network and decide which ones to target for encryption or other malicious activities,» he said. The inertia of large companies then becomes a challenge, while hackers have none.
«IT departments are often tied up with numerous projects, and inertia can be a powerful obstacle. One of the key messages I share with chief information officers and chief information security officers is to move quickly in adopting emerging technology services to keep themselves secure,» he said.
