On Wednesday, Thomas Cook (India) and SOTC Travel signed a 'strategic' two-year partnership with Korea Tourism Organisation aimed at increasing visibility for the destination in the 'high potential' India market. In 2024, South Korea welcomed over 176,000 Indian travellers, reflecting a 44% jump from the previous year, said Myong Kil Yun, regional director, India and SAARC countries, at Korea Tourism Organisation.
«To sustain this momentum, we are expanding our tourism strategy beyond traditional travel promotions to include regional tourism development and customised special interest tours,» he added.
Besides South Korea, Thomas Cook (India) has recently inked memorandums of understanding with tourism boards of Moscow, Georgia and Sabah (Malaysia) that are both strategic and long term, to create visibility and drive growth, while showcasing newer locales and experiences for the rapidly evolving new age Indian travellers, said Rajeev Kale, president and country head of holidays, MICE, and visa at Thomas Cook (India). A cohort of high potential outbound travellers is drawing significant attention from overseas tourism boards, said Rajesh Magow, group CEO of MakeMyTrip.
