Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.92%
Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 2.37 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.73 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, AU Small Finance Bank(down 3.57 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 2.38 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 1.36 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.27 per cent) and IDFCBANK(down 0.99 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.92 per cent down at 44925.0. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 165.5 points at 19331.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 505.19 points at 65280.45.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red. Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Reliance Power, PNB and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
