Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.38%

Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 0.12 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MphasiS Ltd.(down 3.25 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.42 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.26 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.38 per cent down at 40820.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 1.25 points at 24836.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 23.12 points at 81355.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Bandhan Bank and IRFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ester Ind, Robust Hotels, Technocraft Ind, Voltamp Trans and Vishnu Prakash R Punglia hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Brightcom Group, Bohra Industries, Spandana Sphoorty, Compuage Infocom and Focus Lighting hit their fresh 52-week lows.
