New Line has unveiled the first trailer for «The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,» an anime film set 183 years before the events of the live-action trilogy. The story is based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and explores the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan.
The film is set to be released internationally starting December 11 and will be available in the U.S. on December 13. The cast includes Brian Cox, known for his role in «Succession,» Gaia Wise, Luke Pasqualino, and Miranda Otto, a veteran of the LOTR franchise. The film features a mix of seasoned and new talent, bringing together a diverse voice cast.

Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, known for «Blade Runner: Black Lotus,» the film tells the story of Helm Hammerhand. Helm, the King of Rohan, faces a sudden attack from Wulf, a Dunlending lord seeking revenge for his father's death. Helm and his people are forced to defend themselves in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg, later known as Helm’s Deep. Héra, Helm’s daughter, plays a crucial role in leading the resistance against their powerful enemy.
