It will elaborate on the alleged role of hawala operators in the alleged transfer of kickbacks from a South India-based group to functionaries of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the party's Goa assembly election campaign in 2022. The federal agency had arrested an alleged Delhi-based cash courier named Vinod Chauhan earlier this month. The agency, in one of its previous charge sheets, had alleged that Chauhan received cash bags from associates of BRS leader and co-accused in the case K Kavitha, which were then allegedly transferred through hawala to AAP leaders in Goa.

DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleged that the closed circuit cameras at the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence were being tampered with and his aide Bibhav Kumar had formatted his mobile phone. In its remand note, police have said a portion of the footage from the CCTV cameras at the chief minister's residence is showing blank. Maliwal took to social media to stress this point. Referring to the 2012 Delhi gangrape-murder, she posted on X, «There was a time when he hit the streets to get justice for Nirbhaya. Twelve years later, they are hitting the streets to save an accused who deleted CCTV footage and formatted the phone. I wish they had tried so hard for Manish Sisodia. If he was here, maybe something so bad would not have happened to me.» Sisodia, Delhi's former deputy chief minister, is in jail for over a year now in the Delhi liquor policy case. Delhi experienced scorching temperatures on Sunday, hitting a peak of 44.4 degrees Celsius, prompting the weather office to issue a 'red alert' due to severe heatwave conditions in the city. This marked the highest temperature recorded so far this summer, following a steady climb in temperatures over recent days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted mainly clear skies with heatwave conditions prevailing in many parts of Delhi and severe heatwave conditions in others, accompanied by strong surface winds at speeds of 25-35 kmph on Monday.

Currently, the Egyptian carrier, which started operations in India more than four decades ago, has nine weekly flights to Cairo. Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, has been sent to five days in police custody following allegations of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal. The Delhi Police arrested Kumar on Saturday, and his anticipatory bail plea was subsequently declared “infructuous” by a Delhi court. The police allege that Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal assistant, assaulted Maliwal at the CM's residence on the morning of May 13. Kumar was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal, who granted the police’s request for custody. The police, through their counsel, sought seven days of custody to question Kumar about the assault. They argued that Kumar did not provide his mobile phone password to the investigating agency and claimed that his phone had been formatted in Mumbai due to a malfunction. Police stated, “Before being formatted, the data of a mobile phone has to be cloned, and Kumar was required to be taken to Mumbai for retrieving the data.” They added that his presence was needed when his mobile phone is opened by an expert.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi raked up the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) issue at a BJP rally in North-East Delhi on Saturday when he said those demanding its removal had blocked roads and caused riots in the national capital. The INDIA bloc is backing these protesters even as those fulfilling the criteria are getting Indian citizenship, he asserted. Addressing his first rally of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the capital, Modi alleged that the INDI Alliance is playing appeasement politics and is steeped in corruption. “Congress is playing a dangerous game. Its manifesto says they want to give government tenders also on basis of religion. Even the selection of beneficiaries will be on religious lines. The police is likely to seek his custody in the case. Delhi Police is also investigating the reason for Bibhav to reach the crime scene (CM house), that too a day after the victim recreated the crime scene.
