While confirming that he is working with the company, Mohan, however, said he has not joined the company 'on this (international business)' role.
Byju’s, which acquired overseas companies such as Tynker and Epiq over the past few years, is currently undertaking a massive workforce retrenchment exercise in its global subsidiaries. “Mohan is back at Byju’s… He is heading international business now,” said a person aware of the matter. The former UpGrad India chief executive, who joined the Mumbai-based company in April 2020, quit in January.
Mohan may get also additional responsibilities at Byju's and is discussing the same with company's founder Byju Raveendran. Prior to joining UpGrad, Mohan spent a little over 11 years at K-12 edtech major Byju’s, where his last designation was chief business officer. Before that, he had worked at several Tata Group companies.
A spokesperson for Byju’s did not immediately respond to queries from ETtech. «I am working with Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran on multiple things but I have not joined the company on this (international business head) role,» Mohan said. In its edition dated June 30, ET Prime had mentioned that Mohan may return to Byju’s.
