The NSE Nifty index ended the session 309.8 points down at 23071.8, while BSE Sensex fell 1018.2 points to 76293.6.
In the Nifty index, Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 0.74 per cent), Trent Ltd.(up 0.61 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.22 per cent) and Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up -0.03 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
