Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 0.28%

Shares of Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.25 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.19 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 3.74 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.98 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.87 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.78 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent at 23305.20.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 162.46 points at 23526.5, while the BSE Sensex stood 528.28 points at 77620.21.
