Women accounted for 55% of counselling sessions, with self-development emerging as the most frequently discussed concern, showed a survey by 1to1help, an employee assistance programme (EAP) service provider.
Among industries, the IT sector led with the highest counselling utilisation rate at 35%, setting a benchmark for other industries. The consulting sector followed at 12%, and banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) at 11%, according to the 'State of Emotional Well-being Report 2023' report.
The survey covered more than 85,000 counselling sessions. 1to1help has partnerships with over 1000 companies covering 9.9 million individuals, including dependents.
Women took 60.11% of relationship counselling while 68.55% of financial counselling was sought by men, reflecting nuanced gender-specific needs, showed the report.
There has also been a 4% increase in critical mental health cases in 2023, underscoring the importance of prioritising mental health support, especially in context of employee well-being,
«Our data finds that distinct concerns surfaced across genders, with men predominantly seeking assistance in self-development, work, and mental health.
