Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent remarks on the show India’s Got Latent, the program’s creator, stand-up comedian Samay Raina, has reportedly called off his scheduled performances in Gujarat. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced on Wednesday that Raina’s upcoming shows in the state had been removed from BookMyShow’s listings and that he would no longer be performing in Gujarat.
Hitendrasinh Rajput, a spokesperson for the VHP, stated that Raina had originally planned four stand-up shows across Gujarat. According to reports, his itinerary included a performance in Surat on April 17, followed by one in Vadodara on April 18, and two shows in Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20.
“It seems that all these performances have been canceled due to widespread public opposition in Gujarat. Although tickets for these shows were available on BookMyShow until Wednesday morning, they appear to have been taken down from the platform,” Rajput remarked, as cited by Hindustan Times.
Ashvin Patel, VHP’s regional secretary, echoed similar sentiments, asserting that the cancellations were a direct consequence of the ongoing controversy. “Considering the public outrage, it looks like the event organizers decided to cancel Samay Raina’s scheduled performances in Gujarat. We appreciate the people of Gujarat for their vigilance. I urge event organizers to avoid arranging shows for such individuals in the future,” he stated.
These developments unfold as Samay Raina faces intense criticism in the wake of Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial comments
