Joe Biden to end his presidential bid. Former President Barack Obama, Senate Majority leader Chunk Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are working behind the scenes to convince Biden to end his electoral campaign.
It has now emerged that over the weekend, while Schumer made a concerted effort to convince Biden, Nancy Pelosi too had presented her case, asking him to step aside. As a senior member of the party, she is concerned about the future of the party if Biden were to lose the election in November.
It has been reported that Nancy Pelosi tried her best to convince Biden to step down. Firstly, she told him in no uncertain terms that various national surveys indicate that his adversary Trump is about to unseat him in November and secure a second term. During the conversation it was pointed to Biden that Trump is ahead of him in all the surveys. Apparently, Biden dismissed these surveys and pointed out that his own team surveys indicated that he was winning the upcoming presidential election in November.
Pelosi also told him that it is critical for the party to win the election in November for it to secure a majority in the House of Representatives. Biden is reported to have been on the defensive.
